Elf's in the city...
I was wondering if there is anyway to disguise the fact that my character is a Elf in the City of Mikona, as I would like to adventure there without upsetting the locals!

No, unfortunately there isn't. The only way NWN will let you determine race, is by querying it from your character file: it sees right through all equipment. I wish it was possible to implement some kind of diguise skill, but this is not possible with the current NWN limitations AFAIK.

Just a question on this - the war is stated as being between M'Chek and T'Nanshi, so why is it that humans are attacked in M'Chek, and Elves in Mikona?
I know that these two nations are predominently of these races, but Aradan for example is a native to neither land, but only gets attacked in T'Nanshi, even if he is non-hostile.
Would it not be better for there to be no attacks from either side, unless the person is a confirmed soldier of an enemy force, or instigates the hostile action?

If it looks like parsley and it smells like parsley, it will surely be parsley?Aradan Kir wrote: I know that these two nations are predominently of these races, but Aradan for example is a native to neither land, but only gets attacked in T'Nanshi, even if he is non-hostile.
M'Chek regular: Hey, look a pointy eared one, he is wearing no uniform, but how can we be sure he's not a spy?Aradan Kir wrote: Would it not be better for there to be no attacks from either side, unless the person is a confirmed soldier of an enemy force, or instigates the hostile action?
M'Chek officer: we can't let's kill him, just to make sure.
Conclusion: If you look like parsley and smell like parsley, better stay away from the rabbits, cause they will eat you.

It does seem a little unfair that ALL Humans and ALL Elves are included in this. One of my characters in from Jechren rather than M'Chek, but she is still unwelcome in Le'Or'T'Nanshi.
However, I think Sindol is right - the NWN engine does not allow this to be determined. Only your Race counts. Uncomfortably like Real Life - racists do not usually worry about where you come from - only your Race is considered significant.
This is one of the reasons that racism is so wrong - generalisations are always wrong

Life is never as bad as you think it is, although that doesn't help at the time.

But they keep the soldiers in both armies alive....Nighthawk4 wrote:generalisations are always wrong
"Shall we shoot him, sarge?"
"Better not, there's this 20% chance he's not from M'Chek but from some other place. We don't want any generalisations, do we?"
*spy returns to his own side of the front with vital information*
That won't do of course....
It might be slightly politically incorrect, but: I don't agreeNighthawk4 wrote:generalisations are always wrong

Ah .... not the wrong way round, but what I meant was :Sindol wrote:Ye got it tha wrong way 'round mac.Aradan Kir wrote:Just a question on this - the war is stated as being between M'Chek and T'Nanshi, so why is it that humans are attacked in M'Chek, and Elves in Mikona?
"humans attacked in T'Nanshi"
anyway .....
Another question : are there any humans in the T'Nanshi army, or any elves in the M'Chek one? If so, how is that dealt with ??

i know rien is a human in the tnanshi army. and anton too. So im sure that the elves dont have a problem with getting humans fighting for them.
I heard of an elf that fights for mchek, but i havent seen him around. So it is done, and works out fine.
Anyway, can we please get it so opposing army NPCs are auto hostile???
i liked it how it was, and someone has to go and fek it up by making them not hostile to me. grrrrrr, or even theyll be neutral but be swing their swords. doesnt seem to neutral.

It would however be interesting to have spies, ie those humans or elves that fight for the other side.M'Chek regular: Hey, look a pointy eared one, he is wearing no uniform, but how can we be sure he's not a spy?
M'Chek officer: we can't let's kill him, just to make sure.
And no I don't mean an excuse to go in a slaughter NPC in Le'Or or Mikona that can already be done.
For example, my character is human but lives in TNanshi. In order to survive there he is partial to the elven cause and swore an oath to TNanshi but is not in the army. However, someone high in the army could ask this person, who has a loyality to TNanshi to say go and check fortifications for them. He/she sneaks down looks around and returns. However it can't be done because the guards are all hostile and some of the soldiers are.
Interesting, the PC is human, and looks no different than any other human there but still they know! I know, PFM (for those who are not aware of this engineering term ..Pure F*****g Magic

Oh well

Had a bizarre thing happen last night - an elf was slain by the guards, and she went to limbo. I decided that I would move her corpse and all her stuff to a safer location, before trying to raise her. After picking up her corpse, there was still one on the ground, and the guards went mental !!
Guards from all over the city gate came running over and started hacking up the corpse on the floor .... they were in a frenzy! I had to take a
screen grab. All of the guards in the pic were attacking the corpse. It's a bit of a mess, but somewhere under all those guards is a corpse !

yeah, that happens occasionally, the guards go into a blood frenzy and just keeps hacking away at the corpse. You gotta somehow get into them all and pick up the corpse or all the items and make the corpse disappear to make the blood hungry guards stop.
Never argue with an idiot, they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

ahh ... that makes sense. I only had room for half of her stuff (she sure did have a lot of crap), so that explains the frenzy.
Was kinda funny, as I was in the middle of it trying to pick up her stuff, and at first I thought they were attacking me because I was "stealing".
anyway - cheers for the info, I'll remember that next time
