Relative size/scale of the nations?

Post by Nob » Mon May 09, 2005 11:29 pm

This is just something I'm interested in out of curiosity(and more out of world info fleshing out)

What's the relative population break down between each of the Avlissian nations?

You'd have obvious examples like sparsely populated regions like Jechran or Tyedu.

But how do for example comparatively do Elysia and Mikona measure up? Or Elysia and Mikona vs the Seven Cities vs Kuras/Brekon/Cronthetus?

Would dwarven nations with their huge size for example be more sparsely populated than the human nations with their propensity to breed like rabbits?

Stuff like that.

The recent plague posts and "quarter of the population dying" stuff made me wonder about just what the scale of each nation on Avlis is meant to be. Would a plague that virulent that could wipe out a quarter of (insert number here) really be easily contained in a city-state? Etc.

Just me being nitpicky and I guess the social scientist in me wondering.

The plague posts were "rumor". Don't buy everything you here when you read "some people say", especially when its predicting the future rather than describing the present state of affairs. Likewise, if the Plague spread beyond Elysia, it obviously wasn't easily contained within the city.-----There are also a few other IC considerations that you'd need to find out ICly.

As for the actual numbers, only Orl could give you the authoritative word on that.

Heh thanks.

Yeah, wanting a relative scale between nations for some more Kurathene oriented background documents, simply because I'm not sure how to describe it (ICly) even with hubris in relation to the other nation-states of Avlis.

Just roughly, the estimates I used were in the rough equivilant of tracking European population from 1600-1815 for the entirety of the Kurathene Empire.(Though at times particularly "golden age" figures, I cheated a bit and went with figures for the Indian subcontinent instead.)

I would still like to know how big Elysia really is, compared to entire nations covering thousands of square miles.
