Avlis launches its 7th server, The City of Kuras!

Post by Orleron » Sun Apr 17, 2005 3:29 am

It is my pleasure to announce the opening for the seventh and newest Avlis server, The City of Kuras!

Unlike our current areas in Southern Avlis, this place was once capitol of the majestic Kurathene Empire, which has long since crumbled into a group of warring fiefdoms. Only this city remains as a bastion of the old glory that once ruled, and only here can you still find the remnants of the old imperial guardsmen who hold stewardship over the capitol until such day a true emperor can re-unite the fiefdoms and claim the throne.

You will find this place a far cry from the culture of the south. Toran and Senath's followers, both human and dracon, rule here, and they tolerate little sway from those who ascribe to chaos. Order is the Word and the Law, and its solidity is represented by the fortress city that is Kuras.

If you are new to Avlis, fill out an application at http://www.avlis.org and get ready to play! If you are already a member of our community, you should be getting a note on the mailing list with the server's address and password (which is the same as it was for the beta test).

Welcome, everyone. :D

A few things to note about the server:
- There is no sever hopping between Kuras and the other servers.
- There is a character customizer golem in the start tent, a la Le'Or. However, only the races that are prevailent in the Kurathene Empire can be created there.
- This is by no means a 'final' module. It will continue to expand as time goes by, just as our other servers have, building from the basics that exist at the moment. Watch the development updates thread for details on new inclusions.

Many people have put in a great deal of effort to make this happen. I'd like to thank all of the Avlis team, and especially PJ, Mistcaller, and Orleron for getting Kuras off the ground. Also, thanks go to all my beta testers - JJJ, Aldinvineda, Plethora and Dimotane. To frogmella and beezel-bug for building the temples. To Kreetogg, wherever he is, for getting things started many months ago. And to everyone that joined in the open beta, provided feedback and reported bugs.

So, have fun, and game on!

And we all can't forget to thank Jonezie for the fantastic job he did of running with this. The mod would not have gotten online without him, and to be honest, it would have gotten online much much sooner had I thought to take him onto the team earlier! Silly me.

Look forward to having more stuff added to this mod, now that Jonezie is an official Module Coordinator for it.

Congrats!

No server hopping, what does this mean exactly?

Our current characters cannot travel there, or we can't just log in?

I love the concept, and look forward to seeing how long the law and order last when the masses start the migration.

It means that to get there with an existing character, you have to take the boat. You can't just log off of Mikona, and log into Kuras like you can with other servers. Nor can you server hop out of Kuras.

Next for me? More quests, more areas, and more 'stuff' for Kuras.

I'll be digging in some time there soon enough. :)

Thank you everyone for making this new server live! I love you all, and would hug you, but my monitor, and many miles, are in the way... :(

Some members of the masses are rather fond of Law.
