Any info on Dra'Nar?

Post by TiVO25 » Wed Dec 01, 2004 5:58 pm

I'm pretty sure I've done my home-work ( Trolling the Cleric's Forum, World-Info Forum, main page, player's guide, multiple search button usages) and haven't come up with much on Dre'Nar. Anything further besides the post in the World-Info forum? Thanks in advance.

Edited Subject spelling, but left the spelling mistake in the post so Gurky's post doesn't look weird.

Heya,

are you certain it isn't information on Dra'Nar ? If you're *certain* it's Dre'Nar, does he fit this portfolio:

Alignment: NG
Worshippers Alignment: Any good or Neutral
Area of Control: Heroes & Orphans

If he does, you'll find information on him under Dra'Nar in this page.

Yes, I meant Dra'Nar.

And I've already read the information on that page (its the same thing as on the World-Info forum, thanks though!) I was looking for anything more.

*sigh* It's amazing what you can find on the search page if you spell correctly.

Edit - even after spelling it correctly, still turn up nothing more than the basics. So the question still stands. Just lookin' to load up on as much info as possible.

There was a Dra'Nar for some time... :(

And I would have used more information about Dra'Nar when Amy first came to Avlis, would have made the choice of god easier :)

Now she worships Dru'El, so she gets to use their pools *grins*

This is a good chance to add to Avlis' lore.

I asked some questions on Fegall here, and they were answered most generously - also ... there might be some books IG that you can have a look at.

The Avlis Tower University / The Great Library of Mikona - et cetera ad infinitum.

Thought i'd bring this back to the top as there seems to be an increasing number of people choosing to follow Dra'Nar, but i can't find any reference to anyone currently taking the role of Dra'Nar himself or any that would be his immediate representative....

I may be wrong here and simply have missed something, but any input would be appreciated.

Cheers.

No one takes the role of any god. So how is this lack relevant? Oo

It's a misconception, a mistake commonly made that a DM with a certain deity's name, also plays that deity. The Avlissian gods are not characters, nor NPCs. At best they can be considered plot devices that are used very rarely; only in a very major plot and then only for a very short time.

The fact that Avlis DMs name themselves after Deities from the pantheon is just a gimmick. A useful way of keeping track of other DMs online without having to use board names or gamespy names, which are sometimes the same as character names and thus confusing.

Ok, with that said, here's the catch that causes most of this confusion: Most DMs that pick a particular deity name for their own learn about that deity and develop an interest in what's going on in the realm of followers for that Deity. It's like learning something about France if you go on holiday there regularly: it just happens by association. This isn't necessarily true, but often this happens.

Sometimes it also happens the other way around: a DM has a particular interest in running events connected to certain domains and picks a deity that holds sway over those domains. This is logical and useful too, as it helps the players connect him to his events more easily.

For Dra'Nar there's no such DM at the moment. Still, all information that is available about Dra'Nar is out there to find. Browse the website and search the forums, look for in game information and items that have references to Dra'Nar. In short: seek in the right places and you will find something. It's not a lot, but it's all we have. If you think it's not enough, submit some ideas to the staff mailing address and we'll consider making it dogma. Note that this isn't done lightly and most often it isn't done at all. Afterall, sometimes the best part about a religion is that not everything is known about it. The mystique is worth something as well.
So much fun,
yet so little time to enjoy it.
