The Ferrell Trade Faire ((April 2016))

Post by Tarken » Mon Apr 04, 2016 7:17 pm

This belongs here. Raves to all.

I was able to spend the better part of the weekend logged in for this event, and I had a great time. Participation by the player-base and Team was through the roof, with total number of people logged in climbing above 50 throughout various times of the 3-day event.

There were many things over the weekend that made smile or laugh out loud. I’ve included only a handful.

- Blushing women.

- Securing righteous gear.

- Quiet talks in secluded corners.

- Modeling epic weapons to a chorus of cat calls.

- Botched negotiations. Yes Ref, I’m looking at you.

Add your own favorite moments from the faire below…

My Favorite moments?

There were many but if I had to choose one it would be Pickle & Bird, their auction had me in stitches, their entire pitch was perfect. The interplay between the two throughout was so good you have to wonder how much of it was scripted, yet it felt totally impromptu. Add onto that the end result of the auction and the interaction of the crowd it was purely delicious.

I brought 4 pc's to the fair this year and each one had great interactions with others, I think this one will go down in my books as one of the best in recent years.

I always love it when I get the chance to 'stir-the-pot' even if it's only a tempest in a teacup in my own mind.

Bubbles, bubbles... my bubbles!

#1 favorite thing: the very patient DM's. I can't even think how much it takes to sit there while there's a line for hours and the range of responses you get about all the things you found/made to bring for us to oogle over.

#2 favorite thing? How many people got involved, and involved early! Ok so we had some goofs with extending stall rental periods, and the DM's had to wait for someone to give up a stall but I mean we were SOLD OUT!

#3 ... probably Kingsley and Fellock's performance auction, and the interplay between them before and after.

A distant 4th is probably that we did some of the auctions upstairs. Especially the early ones when everyone was eager to get into the DM stall, thank you Pleth for the setup and even taking part in some bidding!

I wasn't on as much as I wanted unfortunately but this is about one of the times that I was able to be around.

Pilder was perusing wares and overheard a convo between a prospective buyer of a warhammer and the stall owner. Apparently the character (sorry can't remember the name) was going to buy the hammer for someone but couldn't afford it (200,000gp). Pilder asked if she had an interest in this person and she replied that he was her meatshield. So, Pilder said something along the lines of: I would have bought it for you if it was for love. If there was facial animation in this game her mouth would have dropped open and her eyes would have been the size of saucer plates. The character was only able to say ..... What!? .... What?! As the merchant laughed and Pilder walked away.

A sincere thank you to the DM's and members of SATF for making this such a success.

I had a great time at the Faire! I was on with Grace for most of the weekend and it was fantastic to spend so much time with such great characters.

Really enjoyed plotting with Vesdrac, he's a peach. And (hopefully) connecting with Thorfinn to make some delicious drink. And seeing Peregryne again and basking in his grandfatherly rage. And keeping my pony from harm (and wishing the gnome could ride him). And actually buying something for Grace this go-round (besides weapons, stupid whisky). And seeing Kice without a hood. And a surprise visit from Damar always warms my heart. And trying to comfort Gann. Every single interaction with the DMs/NPCs. And literally every person I came in contact with was enjoyable, even if ICly annoying (looking at you, goblin). So much I could gush on and on about but I will try to save some for the comments for April's RPotM. :D

Great fair, some of my highlights were
*kiara shows up in a dress and Geris Emotes something like " just notices Kiara is a girl"
Pickle and Birds auction and the resulting shake down afterwards!
And Ash painting a kobolds hand with a pink transferable heart and setting him off to spread the pink to everyone!( until Lilly threaten to melt him!)

Raves to everyone had tons of fun

The best thing about the Fair is the ability to get a full weekend in of so many different players/characters in one spot. I got to meet quite a few new characters with Fletcher, and catch up with some old ones. The server held up pretty well, and there wasn't much lag at all, even with hitting 55 people.

Thanks to the players and DMs who made it all possible. I can't wait for the next one!

Thaylis Beign: Morgan, did you cast recitation?
Morgan Thornheart: Yes

Hitting 55 was pretty amazing there. The whole fair was amazing, so thanks to everyone for being so great. :good:

I took some screenshots at random times during it, and trimmed the 100 or so down to... less than 100. Not the best quality, but better than my last batch (used the wrong script and made them tiny for the reunion stuff  )
