Is this possible ?

Is it possible to make a sneak attack right after a knockdown ? I know the victim will still be able to see you, but he can't really defend himself on the ground :?

In PnP, at least, sneak attack doesn't have to do with whether the opponent can *see* you, it has to do with his/her ability to *react* to you. I.e., you can make a sneak attack any time the defender is denied his dex bonus. E.g., flanking doesn't make you invisible to the defender, but since you've got him/her between a rock and a hard place you get to hit where it hurts.
Being flat on your ass does sorta limit your ability to be light on your feet, so if I were DM'ing a PnP campaign I'd say hells yeah you can sneak attack a dude on the ground.

However, I don't know how NWN does it, so I guess you can chalk this reply up to "I want to help but actually am not saying anything useful."

Really I just wanted to start back-to-back sentences with "i.e." and "e.g.",

That would be Men At Work if memory serves? That's what I get with Charlie Sheen+Sanitation Engineer...

In either the PHB or DMG, forget which... It talks about sneak attacks vs prone targets, and it states that you can not sneak attack someone who's prone. They may be easier to hit, but they are not distracted to the point that you can sneak attack them.

Vanor's right--being prone gives others +4 to attack, but it doesn't deny you your AC dex bonus after all.

Too bad--but hell, in NWN it might *still* be possible. I mean, after all, look how much they've blown it with sneak attack already!

So, err, can someone try this out and let us know?

i played a rogue, great tactic is to use improved knockdown right off, wether its meant to or not, youll be getting at least 5 sneak attacks in while hes on the ground. Not sure what the rules are "supposed" to be, but i do know if you knock someone down youll get the sneak attacks in if you knock them down flatfooded.

when they are already facing you and you knock them down, you do NOT get sneak attacks. However, if they are caught unawares and you knock them down, for example... in the first round of combat after attacking from sneak mode, you may get extra sneaks.

Hmm, I tried it, but after I knocked him down in the face, I didn't get sneak attacks... I haven't tried knocking someone down from the back, but I suspect he'll land on the face so I get sneaks... or something :?

Edit:

My char is probably too stupid to use improved knockdown aswell, int 9 :P It would be a useless feat to choose for me. The sneakattacks dish up pretty well in a party though !
