Witch Wake released.

Post by Vanor » Thu Dec 12, 2002 4:05 pm

I know this donesn't really pretain to Avlis much, but I wanted to make sure people saw this :) And part of what I'm going to say will pretain to Avlis so there... :P

Witch wake ROCKS! I mean this module is sooooo good. It is the first thing I've found that actualy competes with Avlis for my time. Thankfully it's only 3 hours long :)

The dialog, story and world for WW is amazing, it's dark is moddy, it's alive, and quite different. The world is not a real happy place. Free will is a farce, and apprently heaven was destroyed sometime ago, leaving only the dark realm of Stygia for the dead to go to.

I haven't finished it yet, but what I've seen so far is masterfull.

Now for the part that pertains to Avlis.

All staff members, you must play though this module, Rob B. does some amazing things in there with dialog, effects and triggers. As good as the story was, and as much as it sucked me in... I was constantly thinking to myself "Wow, I have to see how he scripted that..."

He makes extenstive use of skill/atribute checks in dialog, including the ablity to climb at one part. All in all, if we can take some of the things he's done with Witch Wake, and incoprate them into Avlis, it will be a even better place for it.

I know that all us stafff members are quite busy, but I can not stress it enough that we all should play though this module, if for no other reason then to see things he did and pull them out to be added to Avlis. I also think it would be a really good break for us, especialy Orl and Silk to play for a bit... :)

totally 100 % agree. I have yet to enter Avlis, but will soon. But WW is something EVERY mod or PW builder should play through if not to make your own better, to show you what is possible with the toolset.

I agree this module is extremely RP heavy, and very immersive.

I must say that I do not agree with the removal of XP for kills altogether, but that aside it's the best mod I've ever played, including the original NWN ones.

My god, it's good and I second vanor's sugestion that all staff play this module. All people should!

If we can get the feel of WW into Avlis, we will be laughing all the way to the bank.

Vanor, you HAVE to do some area's like WW for Avlis.. Ugh, they are beautiful!

I last about 15 minutes on any single player game. I just need the multi or I get bored.

Witch wake had very good scripting?

its also worth checking out Adam Miller?s modules. Shadowlords and dreamcatcher. The early modules don?t have all that fancy scripting, but the latter ones have some cool effects and interesting RP. They are a tighter story driven setup over the normal Avlis experience, but I think they are masterwork.

I didn't like the Dreamcatchers. They were basically tech demos with plot as a filler. Maybe it's because I hate puzzles.

Well, they definitely weren?t Avlis. It is a different type of fun, for those that appreciate it.

Bone Kenning was fun.

Best way to implement henchmen that I've seen.
