Avlis Hak Update 2010

Post by MadK@ » Sat Nov 27, 2010 6:03 am

The 2010 Avlis Hak update is now available to download and will officially go into effect on the 4th December 2010

There is some big changes to the Avlis required files with the first release of the new tileset compilation which replaces all tileset haks used on all Avlis servers.
The purpose of this compilation was to clean up the existing tilesets removing duplicated and conflicting resources as well as numerous fixes to walkmeshes, doors and the addition of some new content packaged into a clean set of 5 haks.

New tilesets include:
Elven City (Little Baron)
Wildwoods (Sixesthrice)
Wildlands (Sixesthrice)
ProjectQ extension (ProjectQ)
City & Castle Interior Windows (gaoneng)
Castle Interior windows (Stephen Nispel)
Marble Elven Interiors (Helvene)
Suspended forest extension (Helvene)
Wooden Elven Interiors (Helvene)

Full listing available for viewing over at Javaforge http://www.javaforge.com/proj/doc.do?pa ... c_id=27532

avlis_tileset_v1.hak
avlis_tilem1_v1.hak
avlis_tilem2_v1.hak
avlis_tilet1_v1.hak
avlis_tilet2_v1.hak

Or if you prefer all the above haks in one convenient installer package!

Shiny! :cooler: At least 7 months from making it an official idea to here with the Avlis tilesets all-in-one, and that is just a small part of what is to come. No more server specific haks means builders can use everything we have anywhere now, no matter the server. It also means updates can be done easily without breaking stuff, so if you find something nifty in a new hak on the vault or whatever, point it out in the Player's idea box. Avlis can grab any bits of it we like without relying on future updates from the author in hak form now (though they will always deserve full credit for the additions).

*Does the soapbox thing* QA may be amazing, but it can only do so much with testing the reorganizing of all the Avlis content files we play with, so use that nice bug tracker if you see anything out of place (either IG, or builders in the toolset). This is an Avlis-wide change of material used (though it should all remain the same initially, besides some major tileset bug fixes that also make more things available). If you see any funny looking walls, ground, lighting or whatever, let us know. Literally thousands of files had to be altered in some way to combine all the different server haks we use into one set, and if we got it all right the first (ok, more like 72nd) try, I'll be impressed. Think of it like when we changed over to 1.69 NWN, and needed everyone to report anything funny they found with it.

BTW, MadK@ is gonna deserve a second rave thread just for keeping the whole project on track soon. I don't know how she does it, but Avlis would be lost without her. :good:

can someone update the playerhousing page on the wiki?
So I know what order to put them in and if the copap haks are still needed.

Now hopefully this will the first time I won't have to end up going around as many convoluted back doors as possible to download a hak update.

Also, awesome work, will also mean I can probably delete most of that mahusive folder I had to install Avlis on new computers. :D
Permanently confused.

MadK@ has been updating links and download stuff all day, and she's also the one who will do the housing link stuff. All in good time ;) I will mention again a bit of what she posted above though.
The purpose of this compilation was ... removing duplicated and conflicting resources
You can figure out what no duplicate files in any of the tileset haks mean until the list order is posted.

Most of these are about to go live on my Mirror, apart from the one which didn't download with the correct size. Update to follow when that is sorted and they are available

Edit - Here they are.

avlis_main1_9a
avlis_main1_9b

avlis_tilem1
avlis_tilem2 - This should work now
avlis_tileset

avlis_tilet1
avlis_tilet2
copaptlk_4_9

You need a utility to extract 7z files

Apart from the 7z-utility: when i try NH4's links i get files to download as usual, but when i try MadK's links i seem to open a file and get mumbo-jumbo on a screen in a webpage. What am i doing wrong?

Tnx!

For MK's links you need to right-click and select 'save link as'

It looks to me like you need to Right-Click on the link and do
'Save Link As' (FireFox, Google Chrome)
'Save Target As' (IE 6. Yes, I still have 6. I don't use it so I don't update it.)

But I am still downloading it now, so I am not entirely sure if it worked properly doing it that way.

The .7z ought to be readable by both WinRAR and WinZip. :-)

WinRAR also opens 7z as well as Zip and RAR. It's nagware, but that's about it.
