Preparation for 1.66

Post by PlasmaJohn » Fri Aug 19, 2005 3:35 am

Hey gang, it's high time we move forward with 1.66. To be prepared you will need the following haks:

CEP 1.52
avlis_main1_3
avlis_ext_hakset (new!)
copaphak4_5
universalhak_4_5
copaptlk_3_5

The hakset contains 9 haks avlis_ext_1.hak - avlis_ext_9.hak. To better organize some of our server and development resources, we need to employ some 'server-side' haks. Unfortunately clients still need a placeholder hak. Therefore, please copy all of them to your NWN/haks folder.

At this point we're looking at early next week, but some of this depends on who's available when, so delays are inevitable :D

It'd be grand to get a link to the avlis_ext_hakset zipfile...

Can we download these now and put them into our hak folder now without causing any problems now before the actual update to 1.66?

Thanks...but sheesh. Which of the many 1.52 options there should I download? There must be some difference, but what the heck do I know?

I am assuming we can all use the patch as opposed to the full install?

Yes the Patch will bring you to the full current version from 1.51 but not 1.50.... so if you have not updated to 1.51 then you need more (:

Yup! You can and should download the haks prior to the update, and put 'em in your hak folders. Then when it comes time to update, you'll just have to run the NWN updater and you'll be all set.

Ok, let me attempt to kludge these three posts together into plain English, and then someone tell me if I'm right. For the CEP, we have two options.

EDIT: Deleted all that rubbish, as I've just consumed my second cup of coffee, and things are making more sense.

EDIT 2: Ok, I looked in my hak folder, and I have cep1patch150.hak in there. Per Teleri's comments, this means I need the full install, right? (By the hairy balls of Gorethar! That thing is 240Mb!) Or is there an option to run a patch taking me to 1.51, then the new patch taking me to 1.52?

In other words, can I download and install CEP v1.51 Patch (.ZIP) (49.4Mb) and then download and install CEP v1.52 Patch (.ZIP) (52.7Mb)? Will either of these actions stop me from playing Avlis in its 1.65 version (prior to next week's update)?

240Mb !!!!!

*cuddles his 4Mb cable internet connection*

One quick question. Do these hak updates mean the updated Holy Avenger PrCs are now live ?

The patch readme says that it will update any cep version to 1.52. I think that answers your question, Buddha.

Firstly, thanks to all those that put in the hard werk!

I remember the CEP was put in the main NWN folder, not one of the subfolders, like hak or tlk, right? I guess its the same with the patch, but I'm not sure. Extract it to the main folder?

The readme tells me:
.....v1.52 contains updated custom heads, which were inadvertently broken by other improvements and fixes that were recently made to the game. Commonly referred to as "broken heads" these were not caused by CEP itself or any specific content creator.

The CEP Team gives special thanks to Lisa for single-handedly fixing all the various custom heads and then providing the CEP Team with the fixed versions.

umm... I just got to the readme and its a bit more complicated than that, but the readme gives step by step, so here goes.

*struggles too*

Where the hell is that hakpack they tell me to find? :grrr:

Edit: Can anybody point me towards the following files in the 1.52 patch?

cepanatomy.hak
cepbaseitem.hak
cepcreature.hak
cepplace.hak
cepportrait.hak
ceptexture.hak

Nowhere to be found, oddly. Thanks in advance.

Yep, these were the female custom heads, and if I remember rightly, the fix to the female helmets somehow broke this? Something like that. Anyway, good to know its fixed.
