NWNX website shutting down

NWNX (nwnx.org) Main Page Announcement
and
Forum and site will shut down (Forum Topic)
Papillon wrote:Announcement 10. September 2019

Hello folks,

due to security and GDPDR concerns and the low volume of posts in the last few months, I am sorry to announce that I will close the NWNX forum and the site soon.

It has been a pleasure and an honor to be part of this project since 2004. The original NWNX helped to create worlds that not even Bioware thought were possible. It surely was (and is) a greater success than I imagined at the beginning and its derivates continue to power the NWN persistent world community.

The forum is write protected effective today. In the next few weeks, I will try to create a read-only copy of the posts here. If that succeeds, I plan to host the nwnx.org domain as a static copy for a few years more so that links do not suddenly break. If you want to get in contact with me send me an email to nwnx10 at stiegerhs dot de.
Note: The certificate for the site expired yesterday as well, so you'll need to add an exception to even visit it now.

It sounds like the forum will remain as a read-only resource for a few years, but I wouldn't be surprised if a few people start making their own online backups of it. This has been a valuable resource since the beginning of NWN and Avlis, and I still use it to this day (frequently with things I've been redoing here lately). Thankfully Papillon is giving everyone plenty of warning and taking steps to keep it available, unlike several other notable disappearances of sites related to NWN (*grumble, grumble* BioWare forums twice would top that list :grumble: ).

Are you talking about NWNCX (our wiki points to the community site)? That is totally different, and some of the links do think it is a virus because of what it does.

Try the third link on the community site (the ".7z, repacked for users getting an archive error" version) and it shouldn't complain, but you may still get a warning from your own virus software if you have heuristic detection enabled. The extender modifies stuff in memory, which is the same kind of thing a virus does, so it will see that behavior as bad.

That's what I was talking, about. The AV program was having a hissyfit when trying to run it, and even groing through Pap's site above there links were running into virus warnings. But, your comment pointed me towards what I needed to fix, so thank you. :)
