Max's override is awesome and I'd really like to try, except Winrar is giving me "unexpected end of archive" errors and "CRC failed in Nw2_br_townhll2.tga. The file is corrupt."

Any idea what this means? :(

I ALSO don't see the instructions for turning off certain features...
Am I fucked or what?
Can I reverse this?

Unexpected ends of archive are usually as the file hasn't download properly so it's in pieces.

There should be a ".bat" file in with the rest of them, open it for a DOS-esque box with some brief instructions on how to remove things (it has be outside of the compressed file though, I just dumped the lot in the override folder and used it from there).
Permanently confused.

Too complicated for me to enjoy... plus it just turned a bunch of my tile skins white...

I guess it's time to delete the override folder!

It sounds like your download was corrupted Isadora. Try again? The batch script isn't actually very complicated to use... just double click it and you get a text description of what to do. I'd be happy to walk people through it in IRC.

So I install the new overrides and decide to take a walk around Elysia... Everything looks really nice, but somehow the overrides have screwed up my health meter... it's using the "Holy $@it... You've gained a level graphic"?? WTH?? That's going to be problematic!

Oh wait... I got XP for not having gained enough in the last week... LOL

That's what I thought! I'm glad everyone is enjoying these so much.

PS: Ferns might be another option to turn off, as they're rather large and replace the mushrooms in most caves/dungeons. A rather glaring difference with what other people see, so just remember that :)

I fixed it.. REALLY different, but I love changes, and I know the areas good enough to know what trees are/aren't there :)

I also found this thing in the vault a while ago. It replaces ALL icons- spells, skills, feats, buffs with multicolored ones. Really fancies up the whole feel of Ye Old NwN :) I'll look for that unless someone else can post a quick link to it

Aside from the pine trees near the tree rims I didn't find any tiles that actually interfered with gameplay. However here's my recommendations so far.

First, turn off Forest like I said before, it's just outright glitchy whenever cliffs are involved or maybe it just hates jxp_forest.

Next, remove or delete the following files to get rid of the evergreens around the tree rims.
ttr01_d01_01.mdl
ttr01_d01_02.mdl
ttr01_d02_01.mdl
ttr01_d02_02.mdl
ttr01_d03_01.mdl
ttr01_d03_02.mdl
ttr01_d04_01.mdl
ttr01_d04_02.mdl
ttr01_d06_01.mdl
ttr01_d07_01.mdl
ttr01_d08_01.mdl
ttr01_d09_01.mdl
ttr01_d10_01.mdl
ttr01_d11_01.mdl
Everything else is up to personal taste unless someone else finds some glaring issues to point out.

I dont have any issues with the trees or anything like that, all runs pretty nicely

Perhaps my only problem is the lights! Like lamps and things outside? so very very bright!

You can turn off the lights in the bat file that comes with it. 8-)

I've found that the pine trees don't 'exist' and can be walked and clicked through.
I've had problems with the more hilly bases at some of the extra trees in rural sets. I get impassable areas on those.
Might work different on a fresh install however. :)

I found a new one of these that is absolutely stunning. Its effects on the Rural tileset are jaw-dropping, and others change beautifully as well.

Effectively, this changes a looot of the standard NWN tiles. Things are much, much much prettier, and there are some new VFX (lens flares up the wazoo, for instance). For Windows users, there's even a little helper script that lets you turn off changes you don't like. (No such luck for linux/mac, unless you can find a way to run .bat). I heartily recommend it.

A word of warning though: when I say change tiles, I mean it. There are... lots more trees in my Mikona now. They're beautiful! But they weren't there before. So... just be careful with what you're referencing, because other people may not see it. (Of course, that wouldn't be a problem if everyone installed this, so get cracking!)
Just wanted to note that this has gotten an update since then. Sounds like many complaints have been addressed.

See above for discussion. Simple instructions:

1. Make sure you have a system that can handle this (less than 2-3 years old, not a laptop with only onboard video). Disable the 'shiny water' option in NWN options. Back up your override folder.

3. NWNCQ

Get the 1.3 'basic' version and the 1.3 'basic' patch, put it in override according to instructions.

4. NWShader

Install according to instructions. I recommend the following settings. Basic: Fullscreen Shaders on, 'Use Fog' on, Fog Distance Mult 2.0, Calculate Depth on, rest off. Advanced Settings: none. Shaders: 'depth of field' and 'bloom' shaders only.

5. Adjust the gamma slider in NWN options to the brightness level you prefer. The bloom shader generally brightens everything.

Alright....... I was curious so I installled all that NWShader + NWNCQ stuff as described by Krators' post...
But since then, it seems that NWN/NWMain isn't able to load. I get a 0xc0000005 error.
Before deleting all those NWShader & NWNCQ files off the fodler, I wanted to ask you guys&gals what the problem might be...

My system should handle it, btw. (AMD +3000, 2 GB Ram & GeForce GT 6600 128mb's)

So long, P.

I had to delete both, and then put in the basic for my laptop. Which, my system should of been able to run it with no problems either. I guess it didn't like the chipset family. :-(
