The game can be found fairly cheaply now, as the last expansion was released about a year ago, which is a long time for a games shelf life. We are lucky that Bioware is continuing to support the game, and has come out with several upgrades to try to clear up bugs, and add new content.

The NWN community is also extremely talented, and their work was compiled by the makers into a hak called CEP, which has monsters and placables which were made by volunteers, not by the company.

Ive no experience with other game's toolsets, so I can't compare the differences, but I really enjoy building areas, even if its a small thing like my character's own home.

There are even tutorials you can take that will show you how to use the toolset, they can be found here - http://nwvault.ign.com/

There is a LOT of information and downloads on that site, so take it slow.

If you want to see what the graphics look like, here are two links.
http://www.avlis.org/viewtopic.php?t=66439&

This is a link to show a basic house, then the house for my character that I built in the toolset.

Here is another link that we players have posted of interesting, funny, or beautiful things that we saw in-game and took screenshots.

http://www.avlis.org/viewtopic.php?t=42217&

Hope this all helps.

The noises in your head are bothering us. Please ask them to play quietly, or no pie for them.

It depends what kind of pie it is.

For Americans are confused by the term pie.

Steak and kidney pie. Truly a dish fit for a king.

Practice your zombie walks before putting in an application for Avlis. This is key.

I'll have you know aikido is a wonderful sport. Why only yesterday I was allowed to beat up a little old lady and a small child. If I did that on the street I'd have been arrested.

See? This would be the perfect time for a 'yeah, like your mom' comment.
But seeing as I'm sure someone would take it the wrong way, even though its freakin hilarious and comedy gold, I won't.

That's only cause she's built like a brick outhouse and used to wrestle in the men's division under the moniker 'The Leviathan'.
