Has anyone managed to get past the metal door behind the bookshelf in Punkin/Telma's house in the BlackLake District?

Try http://nwn.bioware.com/forums, and then click on the Single Player game forum. I can almost guarantee you 100% that you will find the answer there.

I did. I loaded it up, and deleted the door then saved it. No problems after that.

I'm kidding, I played the single player game for about half hour before I started world building.

Yeah I havent figured out how to get behind there, or the door in the zoo in the Docks (I think, whichever the rich district is next to the Boar Laid Bare Tavern). Any help with either of those would be much obliged.

To get into the Zoo, you need to speak to Nyatar in the City Core. He is the Druid standing next to the BIG Tree.

In order to receive the "Zoo" quest, you'll need to persuade him. He will give you a Zoo Key, a Scroll, and a item that allows communication with animals.
