I played on ALFA for quite a while before coming here. It's a nice setup, but the thing I truly didn't appreciate was that if a DM decided he didn't like your character, you would be walking in a normally hospitable area and suddenly be faced with a spawn of creatures totally out of sync with the area. That, and perma-death sucks for character development.
Oh, and don't even think about trying to rp an evil character... There's virtually nothing for them to do, especially since there's so few of them to rp with.
Just my opinion, but Avlis is far preferable
Have any of you played on ALFA?

I don't want to turn this into a ALFA bash fest, but I'll go ahead and post my opinion of them anyway.
I used to live on the Bioware boards, prior to NWN coming out and me getting sucked into Avlis. I remember when ALFA was first being talked about with what they had planed and such. Naturally back then a lot of it was in theory and based on assumptions on how NWN would actually work...
But what really turned me off on ALFA in general was the attuitude and tones of their posts back then. They very much came off as being the one and only thing that would make NWN worth playing once you finished the SP campaign. That while there might be other PW's out there, no one could ever even consider matching the scope of ALFA.
Hell they even went as far as making demands[/i[ of Bioware to do things a given way, because it would improve ALFA, even though doing it could of been a big waste of time for everyone else, if not down right bad for NWN as a whole.
I'm glad they have a decent player base and are doing what they wanted to acomplish, even if they are no where near what they had orginally planed on. But the elitiest attuitudes they demostrated back then really turned me off on them compeltely.

Besides which.. isn't there going to be a CoPaP world based in Faerun anyway (legends of toril I think... Really hope that it gets off the ground. AND it gets a portal in avlis
)? I don't know the figures for ALFA or CoPaP but it seems like ALFA has a high player turnover... there are very few players on a server at any one time

If you've got a straight answer ANYWHERE in that bent little head of yours I want to hear it or I'm going to take a large blunt object, roughly the size of elminster AND his hat, and stuff it length wise into a crevice of your being so seldom seen that even the denizens of the nine hells themselves wouldn't touch it with a twenty-foot, rusty halberd!
