Unnamed Body of Water

Post by Isadora » Wed Feb 24, 2010 11:34 pm

As you enter the Wilds server from Elysia and go south, there's a rather large body of water. Is this lake Eridanus? Or an as yet unnamed body of water? Does it have a name? If it doesn't, can we have a naming contest? :o

Think that is part of the large river that flows south.

But it's not in any of the other areas around it?

That would be the river in question. As for not being represented very well... :ka:

If you talking that body of water by the archer platforms and rose field at the elf gate wilds transition, then i believe it's just an unnamed body of water, that IMO ammounts to nothing more than a large pond.

If you head slightly further south and then west you'll come across the some measure of the Eridanus which has bugged me for since I started playing years ago (and if the K@ feels like sending me that area I'd REALLY love to fix it and put in a more accurate representation of what the Eridanus should really be.

Yes by the archer platforms. Maybe Grunt has it right. I dunno?

The pond by the archer platform can't be a representation of the Eridanus river, it's geographically imposible. The Eridanus heads from the lake represented in Elysia in the docks district and portion of water on outside of Dracon gate, and heads south on the western side of Elysia. Elf gate is on the eastern side of Elysia. That pond by the forest and flowers is on the wrong side to be the eridanus. If you look at this map you can see this. The Eridanus is marked there by the white line creating the division between T'Nanshi and Toran Shada. Additionally, when in Ferrell, you can "cross" over the Eridanus and enter the wilds which brings you to the area which is south and west of the Elf gate trans on the wilds. Further indicating that the Eridanus is in fact not that pond.

Except that this reservoir is located in T'Nanshi, you mean? :|

Now now... let's be semi-serious here. Is there a team member that'd like to help us with this?

If there is no official name, why do we need the team to decide? Why not just start calling it something and see if it sticks?

So far as I know, there's no Event or other world lore naming the place. Feel free to call it what you like... if it sticks, it'll be the The Rock (formerly known as Fort Karr, formerly formerly unnamed boulder) of that area. :)

Fort Karr will always be known as Fort Karr. If your PC doesn't know why it is called Fort Karr, they're not a true Mikonan. :P

To my perspective, that particular pond is no bigger then any other numerous farm ponds which show up on the tax survey maps but have no name.
