There seems to be very little information in the Wiki and the Forum about Brownies.
Where do they come from? Do they have any particular Homeland?
The Wiki indicates they are a Fey race, but that is about it. Would the fact they are Fey mean they can follow a Fey Deity, such as O'Ma or Titania?
I am currently playing a Brownie character. She is actually a Changeling of course as Brownie is not selectable directly. However, I plan to play her as if she was a genuine Brownie. I know a Changeling can claim to be anything they copy, so I am assuming this is not considered to be Metagaming. I am sure I have seen others playing Brownies.
This character is a Monk. It is hard to find a suitable Deity for a Monk, other than Gorethar. Therefore, I am hoping to select one based on the race instead of the class. I suppose a Monk doesn't really have to follow a Deity, but a World like Avlis is so steeped in religion that it feels odd not to follow one.
Thoughts please?
Most of this information is OOC of course

You can claim to be whatever you want, but at the end of the day, you're ~really~ a changeling.Gefjon wrote:There seems to be very little information in the Wiki and the Forum about Brownies.

As for Monk Dieties, Senath and Toran come to mind. The thought of a Toranite changeling makes me giggle, but there's nothing terribly wrong with it. Similarly, as long as you're LG you can choose O'Ma as your god, as only clerics are required to be the exact alignment and lay followers can be "one step" away.
Re: Brownies
I know that she is always 'really' a Changeling. What I meant was that I assume a Changeling claiming to be a Brownie whilst she is copying one is an acceptable lie, compared with claiming to be a race which doesn't exist, or something like a Vampire which does exist but is not acceptable as a 'Player race', even for a Changeling.
I am aware that OOC people will think 'You can't play a Brownie, therefore you must be a Changeling'. However, I assume this is not an acceptable way to 'out' a Changeling, as this is OOC Game Engine information, rather than something like seeing a Brownie changing and making a successful Spellcraft check.
As for Deities, I did consider Senath and Toran, but they didn't seem quite right.

Re: Brownies
Actually, with the advent of players remorting their old characters, this is no longer true. Players ~can~ play brownies, or giants, or wemics with wings, or pyrite dragon younglings if they want.Gefjon wrote:I am aware that OOC people will think 'You can't play a Brownie, therefore you must be a Changeling'. Now that being said, if a brownie or giant walks by and acts completely out of character for a brownie or giant, a character has the right to wonder if a changeling is trying to pull something. Just like we would react in real life and wonder "is this a setup, am I on Candid Camera" when someone is acting completely odd.

Re: Brownies
I've always thought that Andagar could make an interesting diety for an evil monk, probably quite well suited to a brownie too being all trixy
The'ton seems an obious choice for an evil monk, but would be super interesting for a 'brownie' given his domains.
I know you're probably angling for good or neutral but for some reason I've always thought of Brownies as evil little buggers!
