Does anyone know whether there's an official sign language, or do deaf and mute people have to make do without a language?
Just thinking of an idea for a character...

There's at least one person playing a mute character on Avlis, I've run into the character several times. Kanga is part of the character name, can't remember if it's first or last. Anyway, IMHO, that person is doing an excellent job of RPing a mute character, and I've had lots of fun interacting with him...

The annoying part of voicesets is that certain actions set off an appropriate comment - which doesn't make sense for characters who either cannot speak or cannot talk Common.
I have several Custom Race characters who do not speak Common. However, when I attack an enemy, they say a battlecry or the like - in clear Common (i.e. English). This is a limitation of the Autobic system.
I do not think there is any way to create a character without a voiceset. They can be edited with the Advanced Editor of Leto - but of course, that is not possible with a Servervault character.
Just RP and ignore the 'automatic' comments.

Life is never as bad as you think it is, although that doesn't help at the time.

There was also a mute monk by the name of Inzyl-Za that a character of mine was supposed to be recruiting into the Order of the Dragon, but I haven't seen him around Avlis or the message boards. He mentioned playing on Hala a lot, so maybe he is there. Nevertheless he had it well-roleplayed.
Neverwinter Knights account- BulletTime
Hmm... didn't really think of that because he wasn't going to be a wizard, but he is part ranger which might cause this to be an issue. Do those spells (because they're divne) require verbal components, or will I have to go a level lower with the feat?just, whatever you do...dont make a mute caster. it'd screw up the RP.
verbal components are in almost every spell, and unless you have the silent spell feat, and are willing to cast the spell at a higher level due to metamagic just to pull off the trick....

Hehe Sand shocked Inzyl-za so much once by appearing out of nowhere and saving his butt from some dire wolves that he spoke.... he lost his voice again shortly after though once things calmed down a bitAtoan wrote:There was also a mute monk by the name of Inzyl-Za that a character of mine was supposed to be recruiting into the Order of the Dragon, but I haven't seen him around Avlis or the message boards.
