Where to start ?

Post by Stormhammer » Tue Jun 15, 2004 9:30 pm

Hello everyone. I just joined this wonderful world of avlis after studying the world information for a few days. I took a few days to develop a character concept after I recieved my acceptance email. I would like to play a dwarven craftsman and fighter and I was just wondering what server would be good to start on. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Mikona is best for that IMO, though I don't craft myself.

Idealy in Delgos. But Delgos is a bit too raw for a new player and character.

Other options are either Elysia or Ferrell. Both have a lot of crafting going for them and both are near Deglos. Mikona is also a option, but not real near Deglos.

Le'Or is also a great place for newbies these days. It's not strong for crafting (yet), but offers a lot of lowbie quests, as well as places well suited for lowbies to find some adventure. ;)

So, short answer... definitely not the Wilderness. :)

Not to take anything away from Le'Or. But this is a dwarf we're talking about here. Why would he want to go live amoung all those pansy elf's? ;)

Well, to belabor the obvious:

Because they have fantastic STYLE. :D

He would most definitley not want to live among the pansy elves.
*wonders if an elf could even hold a dwarf's smithy hammer with both hands*

Thanks for the info so far. But I need to ask one more thing: does any place have more mining or specialize in certain types of crafting?

Deglos is pretty much the best place for mining. But that doesn't help much.

Both Mikona and Elysia offer mineing. The mines in Mikona are easier to get to. But then you're living in a human city. Ferrell will be getting a lot more mining in soon.

My best advice is this. Pick some place close to Deglos, and hang out there til you're like 3rd or so level. Then start to spend more time in Deglos as you get to know the place better.

Elves are every bit as strong as dwarves. They're also taller. You do the math. :)

I did the math. And it still says dwarfs are a little stronger. I think you might have missed a decimal point somewhere.

OK. I think I'll start in Elysia since its more mixed and Mikona is largely human. Then later I'll relocate to Deglos. Thanks everyone.

mikona has one major advantage over elysia for those wanting to get into material crafting, the AAAA.

Plenty of dwarven smiths start out in mikona then head off to deglos.

But the 4A also has a branch in Dwarftrade, not to far from Elysia... (And on the way to Deglos)
