Yeah yeah...I don't mean to be the RP police...I like xp as much as the next guy. But to say that 7k is not enough in a week.... *sighs* I said hitting a hardcap at full throttle was bad, instead decelerating to either a stop or minimum speed was better - the number itself is irrelevant, it wouldn'...

having XP round .49999 and below down to zero means you will effectively have a hardcap in place, which may make everyone more comfortable. I'm more of the philosophy that 10 hours should always be worth more than 2hours, it just makes everything work better imho, whether it's 10hours crafting produ...

ah okay, you missed the bit where I said you can set the properties of XP as a variable to whole integer rather than whole number - i.e .499999 and below rounds down to zero.
Therefore at the point in your week your multiplier dips below 0.33 recurring then D3 monster xp can only produce zero not 1.

My point has always been in very simple terms, what happens after that 7k, why flat stop, why not either have a law of diminishing returns so you get steadily more xp penalty upto and over the 7k, what's called a soft cap. that's not a bad idea, but it may require so much work (i have no idea) for ...

Aquasoup, seriously can you explain why is this such an issue for you? I've seen it done, is why, tight hard caps per week introduced into a mature RP server. This may be informative reading or not, my experience with this may be worthless or not, you decide, I'll try to avoid replying again after ...

Does this really have to degenerate into name calling? I'm just as frustrated as you are that, from my perspective, a fairly simple couple of truths just zipp right by some of you, without so much as a flicker. I'll try this another way - you are talking about in the old xp system 7k is alot ... but...

Ah Grunt, I get your point but tbh I think you're kinda reinforcing my position, as a good RP-er you go on the new adventure despite getting 0 xp just as I would - meanwhile powergrinder JOE also easily has his 7k per week too and is spending the rest of the time fed-ex-ing, collecting, bulk craftin...

Whilst that thread is great for seeing the current system, my feeling is the future thread about, how many people capped out for the week under the new system and then felt they weren't supposed to travel with friends for the rest of the week is as relevant to the question of whether Avlis will be p...

I understand, because I am not all "yay flag waving" about weekly hard xp caps, some of you will never get past the misconception I'm an evil powergamer Satan sent from hell to destroy your way of life ;) I'll probably never reach you. Well I was referring to your suggestion, which if understand it right, was that it take a minimum of a week to level. If I log on as a level 1 newb (with no idea crafting or questing is a way of gaining xp too - most servers do NOT have those options really) go adventuring for an hour or two and fin...

Also yorlik's position/maths as another example, I appreciate his sentiment but - when a brand new player comes into the server, and isn't powerbuilt or getting advice or help from existing friends, and like all low adventurers finds it hard to kill much of anything safely; If the newb tries to adve...

Vett I wasn't meaning to offend you, even if it looked that way, but in these sort of debates there is nearly always a strong bias in overall viewpoint from the elite/vets element of the playerbase who use, post and dominate forum discussion. I've caught myself doing the same in similar discussion o...

So because one monk guy who's name you can't even really remember, who therefore sounds as if he had zero impact on the server's RP, managed to powergrind too fast, the xp curve of the entire server should be adjusted, now that you have safely reached 40? I know I haven't earned the veteran status t...

We have the limitations of the NWN engine, it's realtime nature and the finite amount of content. It makes it very difficulty to actually RP like PnP where a single round can take half an hour if need be to cover the RP whilst fighting. We all know that, but it doesn't mean a bit of devil's advocacy...

I do find it funny in these sorts of threads that there is always this undercurrent of generalisation of RP into good and bad categories. This analysis is a little tongue in cheek but... Standing around RP, or IM/chatroom RP Good where the only activity is chatting - such as Elfgate RP. It's good be...

bah no edits! Not saying I want an action server!!!! But typically after 3-5weeks on set/post production, stressed out to the gills, often 100+ hours each week, I can easily spend the 6th week or whatever just bimbling around at home, cooking meals that aren't microwaved and have actual vitamins in...

Craft, train animals, read the forums and pop into scheduled events (they're posted all the time), and if that isn't enough, then quest, quest, quest... you'll still get great xp without turning Avlis into an action server. Quarterly was just an example of how simple the maths was in terms of multi...

Just pointing out, per week, whilst comfortingly neat for remembering, is mathematically compromised in certain situations. Do you think 20 hours spent rp-ing in one week is worth less than 5hours spent RP-ing per week over 4 weeks..... I'd never assert that, I'm surprised you can. How about if I ou...

I guess I'm hardly high profile enough around here to warrant replies but... XP cap per week seems limiting, when for weeks on end I can manage 2-3stolen hours per week, and once in a while I get a week where I can play as much as I like all day everyday *shrug* Alot of the questing stuff already se...

I have no idea if I'd ever reach the cap for monster kills, I truly suspect not, but nevertheless, in a purely arbitrary sense - weekly caps are far better for people with 9-5 40ish hour weeks than anyone who isn't in that bracket. Military, self-employed/contract workers, students, housewives (in/o...

The immediate issue I see would be the week in the 7000/week cap, a proportion of your playerbase may not have a constant X hours per week, some weeks or even months I'm on contract and have 0 hours to spare for playing - others I have large amounts of free time allweek. Any type of system that migh...
