Is there any way to get that done, without changing the base race of the creature to something not animal? If not, does anyone know how to jack up the AE DC without changing the creature itself (no added will save or levels I mean)?

How many will saves do animals make except for mind-affecting spells and animal empathy? So give them +5 against will saves and -5 for saves against mind-affecting spells? Not sure if you can do the latter though.

As far as I know, the creature's will save is not a factor.
The DC for Animal Empathy for animals is 20 + hit die of the creature.
DC for beasts and magical creatures is 24 + hit die.

So...other than raising the hit die of the creature, I think the only way to prevent AE is to make the creature immune to charm and dominate.

Grimoire says it's 15 and 19. And I always had 20 and 30 in my head. So.. wonder which is right? I'll have to take a closer look at some rolls.

Not sure if this one is bug or not. But I remember seeing swamp creature or some such in Undermarsh of Le'Or. You can use AE on those but they are not dominated by it. If I recall correctly they use Vegepigmy model, and not the one using Thorny Rider model. You may want to take a look at the copy of the creature and see what AI etc it has.

Tried the thing you said Kinarr a while ago, but couldn't get that to work. Changed the base creature type to "monstrous" for the three animals we're talking about. Not perfect, but it works.

For all you with +20 vs. Animal weapons.. you're SOL.

which three creatures were we talking about again? I forget..
