Killing NPC's, even on unpopulated servers

Ok guys,

This is a personal request, but it does reflect back to some rules we have. No matter how bored you are, don't kill NPC's without notifying a DM so there can be an appropriate response.

Lately someone has been "offing" NPC's in V-bol and especially since many of these offer quests this is seriously uncool.

If you feel like you're bad-ass and need to kill something get a DM on and we will give you some intelligent resistance and an opportunity to play ebul.

It is totally unrealistic to think you can walk into an inn take out the proprietor and walk away without raising an alarm, and it is equally unreasonabel to think you can kill all of those inside a building without a single one getting away to raise an alarm (not to mention the fact that there are many more NPC's around than you see due to engine limitations.

If there is no DM around and you DO feel the need to pick a fight, pick on the sereg spawns in the city, at least those offer more resistance than poor ol' bonesy or any of the other NPC's around.

On a related note; are the quest NPCs raisable? (i.e. Do they leave a corpse?)

Pretty lame, yeah, but it's not as if the killing of NPCs in crowded areas is something new. Players should fear the day they are caught in the act by DMs or other PCs, though.

Best hope my Sereg does not catch your PC doing something so silly on his cell's turf........

Don't underestimate the influence of the lycanthropy code down there. I've killed two quest-givers plus a priest myself whilst in were-form and it is very annoying.

Good point, I didn't consider the lycan code, maybe next time if you have been on a killing spree put up an ooc: post or PM a DM so it can be relayed teamside so someone can raise the NPC's. Resurrection rods are not to be found down there.

Well from what I know, down there there is no npc that can cure lycan, so if you get infected stay out of town, I have seen how the guards react to a lycan in lycan form. PWNED!!!

I killed 3 NPCs from the time I unexpectedly turned lycan, having never even encountered a lycan in the previous 3 logins, up to when I managed to portal out of Verloghokbol.

Then the code is even weirder, as it took AGES from when I reckon I got infected and then I kept changing almost constantly.

Even though this is off-topic... :P

I believe what you experienced is how the code is intended to work (there is a reason it works that way, but it's FOIG), and I also believe that the code is no different in the underdark than on any other server.
