If there was no Avlis or COPAP, where would you play and why?
Seriously. I would like to try a different place for comparison.
Thank,
Rene
PS..I heart Avlis

In NWN..probably Layonara or Vives.
In general, Age of Empires 3.

I started playing online in a world called Aventia its completely hack and slash and high magic. I return every once in a while to just beat the hell out of something without it beating back.

The wife and I tried it a while and found it a nice change of atmosphere. A lot of thought was put into the creation and overall theme of the place. It "feels" different than Avlis or any other PW I've played on.
The lack of players and world size (# of areas) is what keeps us from playing alts there now.

Not sure. I bought NWN to play Avlis and have never tried another PW other than linked COPAP worlds.

Well, some people are naming other CoPaP worlds. Among those, I've enjoyed the Abyss and Catara, but that's not a knock on others. Some I just haven't had time to try out, or in some cases it's just mere personal preference about the world.
Outside CoPaP, I've only played on one world, and I like it a lot. It's Ravenloft: Prisoners of the Mist. They are currently updating their boards, but their forum is still up:
http://www.nwnravenloft.com/index.php?o ... &Itemid=26
It definitely has its own feel (characters really are afraid of the night, for example), and their team updates the mod regularly and quickly - it seems well-run.
I haven't played anything other than NWN in over 3 years.

I play Spire, if I am not on Avlis. (Except right now, while I try to make another folder for NWN to revert)
If not Spire, I have no idea.

I'd go back to racing probably.
I have so little spare time that I only have time for Avlis so I haven't tried any other games or worlds as a result.
Prior to playing Avlis I used to race online alot. I still play that same game (Grand Prix Legends circa 1998) since the physics models are excellent and it runs on my dinosaur of a computer. But I haven't been able to get the online portion working for a long time and haven't really bothered to get it working.

Well the first ever online place I played was called Adventure Island. Hated it as everyone was rushing, random invites...comes lets smash, etc. I then found Avlis after a search and that was it.
I have a friend who plays on a world called Forgotten Realms Cormyr and i have a character there who I maybe play once a week if I can be bothered and he's online. Tried to get him onto Avlis and he couldnt find anyone to interact with. Im still trying to convert him but he has his playbase now Cormyr *sighs*

You didn't stipulate NWN PW's, so...
If I had to guess, my probable choices would be:
Real Life
(flip the big ole ONOFF button to 0

)
Eve
http://www.eve-online.com
Eternal Lands
http://www.eternal-lands.com
Guild Wars
http://www.guildwars.com
Hard to say really. GW is up there because some of my RL friends are involved. I may make the jump to the next expansion, Nightfall when it comes out... or when my friends get it -- looks like it'll arrive about the same time NWN2 does, so that may conflict with their schedule.
E/L because it sort of straddles the border between a community MRPG and the big commercial ones. Yah, the graphics suck, but they manage to host 400-600 concurrent players on
one server. The also suffer the lamerz that the big MMO's do.
Eve. It's sci-fi and it's got an awesome economic simulator. Somebody once called it "the prettiest spreadsheet in the world".

If there were no CoPaP? Well, it'd just be school and real life for me.
The only NWN PW's I've played are CoPaP, and I don't care for other sorts of MMORPG's.
If there just wasn't Avlis? I'd be busy running Hades, and probably playing on Abyss 404 or Hala.

For the action I play Freelancer on a modded server with a few new systems and ships (Star Wars and Star Trek ships for example. It's a bit strange seeing the Milenium Falcon fly next to the Voyager though

) . They even have some sort of RP there (not much due to the engine of course)...like pirates against lawful traders, pirates against police, unlawful traders (smugglers) against police, mercenaries against whomever they are hired to fight, clans against other clans and so on...
I played SWG for quite some time, but stopped when they changed it so drastically ( I miss my game

). I also tried WoW, but the utter boredom and stupidity of the game as well as the fact that half the players seem to have the same IQ as a dead pig (even on a RP server) made me quit pretty fast. Then I tried Everquest II for a bit, but it got boring pretty soon...also played CoV for some action and am thinking to play it again for a while.
Right now I keep an eye on Lord of the Rings online...might be fun, but somehow I'm pretty sure that it will turn out like WoW in Middle Earth...Star Trek online looks promising,too...
So,there is a lot of other stuff to play out there if you want to try something diffrent then Avlis and/or NWN...

Hard to say.. I bought NWN for Avlis - I never even completed the OC, just started it while waiting to be able to connect to Avlis.
So I'd prolly just be playing my usual offline games and taking care of RL.
Since I heard from Avlis though, I'm hooked. I tried a few other PW's. Aventia, like mentioned above, when I just feel like logging on and bashing stuff. Dalelands (one of them) was a nice place too, but not sure it's still on. But heh... something (and some people) always makes me come back to Avlis.

let's see, NWN based I think I would go back to Dor Maeglin, it is hack 'n slash, but I still have a kickass dwarven cleric there (i think)
Other games, Warhammer 40k, Oblivion, Starwars Empires at war...NWN OC (I never finished the HoTU campaign)

*Grins*..... Adventure Island is fun in a hack-n-slash kindof way...(my epics all live there) Ravenloft is fun.... The Fold was cool... but I don't ever see anyone on it any more...

I played on Mithral Hammer's The North for a bit before finding Avlis. They have deep gnomes! I love deep gnomes.

Company of Heroes is currently taking most of my time..not into RTS's generally, but this one rocks.
