What does "deafness" do?

So, if you get made deaf by a spell or effect.. what exactly does it do you?

Problems spell-casting?
Inability to hear, i.e. no Listen checks (sounds obvious I know, but is it implemented)?
Anything else?
Do you still see the "chat" in the chat window?

Do you know if the arcane spell failure stacks with other things ... e.g effect of being taunted, etc. ? Probably not something you try everyday.

in my experiance, arcane failure from different scources does stack. Never tested it with deafness though, or taunt for that matter

And bard song - deafness makes you immune to the good or bad effects of bard song/curse song.

I usually play spell casting characters and have one at epic level. I have been silenced twice i think but never had deafness cast on me

*pulls pants down and jiggles dangly bits in your direction*

If that won't put a mage off his spells, I don't know what will

((A taunt without a single verbal component))

Does Amplify help at all for someone that is deaf...or do the deaf have no chance of hearing anything no matter what unless they had Removed Blindness/Deafness or waited it out?
