Suddenly unable to start NWN

When I try to run NWN I get the following message:
I'm sorry, it doesn't look like I'm in the Neverwinter Nights install directory. Please put me back, or re-install Neverwinter Nights.
What the..? X:|

I recently added "AllowWindowedMode=1" and "Disable Intro Movies=1" to [Display Options] in the .ini file, and changed the line FullScreen=1 to FullScreen=0. I reverted back and took out the new lines, but now it still won't start.

Try opening it from the NWN folder, rather than a shortcut?

Ah, I remember that I also saw a .tlk file in the main folder and put it in the .tlk folder. I just removed that and now the game will start up again. ;)

*stops panicking* It's not like I'm addicted or anything anyway.

next... the same thing I had to do with UT2004, Not sure if its doable with NWN...

Just reinstall it without uninstalling it. It overrides files it needs too, puts files that should be there, and leaves extra files alone.

~IF~ you can do it that way, make a seperate location and copy your haks over, incase it messes up you wont have to redownload all of those.

I will look around and see if there is anything else to fix it, but thats all i can think of off the top of my head

make sure you've set the width and height parameters in the .ini file too and that it's less than the default resolution you have set for your desktop.

Word of advice...

The one that says dialog.tlk, does not belong in the tlk file

Make certain you have a folder named "override" even if you have nothing in it. I got that error when I was messing around with my overrides to check on something, but when I changed it back everything worked just fine. My shortcut too.
