Ihave a "Decrease intellect" debuff, the Brain devourer casted it on me, and now my intell is 9 / -1, and i have a "Decrease strenght" debuff that in my character sheet shows as 10 / 0 and my carrying capacity dropped from 116 to 86.
Can someone tell me how to cure myself of these debuffs... and what does the second number means.. because if it shows the degree of decreation it shows "0" at my strenght, so this means it didnt decrease but my carrying capacity dropped...

Ah, yeh, this is my first char so plz dont get angry of my newbish questions  , and sry for any misttakes i did, the english is not my native language.

Uh, ok. I'll try and explain. I hope I'm right. :? If not I'm sure someone will correct me.

Your intelligence = 9 | (1).
That number in brackets is the modifier. That is used with skill checks (as far as I know). Intelligence can also affect your spells if you're a wizard, so you'll not be able to cast as many as before if it's been drained.

The best way to cure sapped stats is to find a priest/cleric/healer.

drink a lesser restoration potion, or have a cleric cast it on you,and the debuffs should be gone.

An int of 9 also means you cannot talk properly so it might be a nice RP thing to act a little less intelligent too ;)

There are greater restore potions too but they are tad expensive.

I also shudder to think how and where a n00b comes into contact with a brain devourer..eep.

The second number is your modifier, that applies to skill checks, tohit/damage rolls (strength), AC modifier (dexterity), bonus HP (constitution) blah blah. Anyway, an 8-9 means you will have a -1 mod, 10-11 a 0 mod, 12-13 +1, 14-15 +2, etc. You could try resting, or a res spell/scroll. Sorry if someone already said that, but I didn't read any posts after the first one, and thought I'd help out :D

I think that you can still talk proprerly with an int of 9 but its an int lower than 9 means that your char cannot talk properly

As for curing... a lesser restoration will only work if it's ability damage. If it's ability drain you'll need a restoration spell, at least. You can find NPC healers able to do this, and lots of PC healers who can, also. If you'd like, I can send my character in to help you. Just name a place and time. :D

And 3 ATs away from the starting location of non-evil characters on the Dark City beta.

Sry, i should have mentioned that i play singleplayer campaign, and yes, i met it in the lowest level of the Prision.
Thx all for the info, i will try to find a res potion.
Also i tryed to find a NPC cleric to heal me but no luck for me...
The other way is to rise cleric class and heal myself as im a ranger now.
And something else: sometimes when i use lockpick i hit 20 5-6 times in a row, and sometimes i get random numbers. I noticed that to hit 20 my pet has to be in passive stance (not to attack the object - door / chest ) is this true or im wrong?

One: Afaik, there are no potions of restoration in single player.

Two: you should find a healer where ever you "base" is. For standard NWN, that's the Temple Of Tyr, for HotUD, that's the Inn, or the Drow temple.

That's actually not correct. It is possible to find both Lesser Restoration and Antidote potions in Single-Player Campaign.

No, I meant no potions that mimic the spell restoration!

Yep. You'll always roll a natural 20 as long as nobody in your party, familiar or henchmen, attacks anything during the period during which you're picking the lock.
For all other times or if they accidently trigger a trap (which the engine sees as initiating combat) you'll get to roll a d20.

Any kind of restoration magic will remove any ability decrease effects, as long as these effects are flagged as magical or extraordinary and not as supernatural. Lesser Restoration, Restoration and Greater Restoration are equally good at removing these drains.

Also, if you wait looooooong enough and rest, these effects tend to go away on their own... Question is, "Do you feel lucky punk?" NO, NO, NO!!! *coughs* "Can you wait that long?"

Um...Aribeth will heal anything wrong with you in the OC (at least at that point she will). Just use your stone of recall do-hickey and have her heal you.

Actually an int of less than 9 means you cant speak. Not 9 or less.

Nope. Int of 3 means that you can't talk at all. you have to communicate in grunts and gestures. Int of 6 you can get by. Rudimentary language at best, though. 9 you can talk, but not well. No dissertations for you. 10, you talk normal, like a high schooler or a little less. 13, you are about the Junior College level. 16, you are at Bachelor degree. 18, you are at PhD. Anything above that, people have a hard time talking to you, cause you don't make sense to normal people. Think Einstein.
