If you could change something about NWN...

If you could change something about NWN in order to provide a more enjoyable playing experience, what would it be? What do you dream of when your brain moves on to ideas of a better and easier rp interface, a more immersive experience, etc.?

first thing that pops into my head, and probably alot of players; is mounts(horses etc).

the possibilties have been discussed in the NWN forums but AFAIK its not possible within the NWN. Alot of people use polymorph in there mods i.e adam miller; but its not the same.

The 2nd is better character model generation, i think you should be able to custom things like eyes, nose, face shape, build etc. Perhaps one like you see in sports\wrestling games where you make a custom char, like the sega system use in there games i,e Phantasy star online or something really good like the one in Silent storm.

More permutations of character design will result in better realism and the ability to discern people without using the contraversial "floaty name"

this is the primary reasons why you cant have mounts in NWN.

ok... and while we're at it....

id really like it if NWN gets open sourced at some not too far point in the future...

... welll a dream i guess....

- ingame voice chat support with adjustable voice filters.

- programmable gui elements

- a more free modeling approach so the lanscapes dont look so square.

- transitionless world.

I think i would like to add a 4th and maybe 5th quickslotbar - what shouldnt be too difficult.

i would like to be able to save and restore an arbitrary amount of quickbars.

i would also like to be able to store spell book seetings and spell sequences

Never seen a currant existing list of monsters in Avlis so I would have to say importing all the monsters in the currant monster manuals for use on Avlis whether they would be used or not at least they would be available :)

Purple worms loved those in PnP :)

What I really want "Open source code" so you guys can make NWN truely awsome, cos you've all done a fekking brilliant job with what you've got, but I would like to see you lot unleased fully :D

From the beginning I've wanted to see:

-Swimming across deep water.
-Underwater adventure stuff.
-Non rideable horses, ponies, mules, wtc. that carry stuff for you and then more strick controls on how much characters can carry.

Swimming, like flight and mounts/vehicles, depends on a z-axis. The z-axis will probably be the single most requested item overall. :)

1) Transitionless world

2) z-Axis

3) Better graphics engine

But, the only problem is that if these three things ever did happen, I would never do anything else but play. :P

How about just adding multiplayer and d&d rules to Morrowind.. less work. :D

An improved engine to move the graphics, NWN requires too much requirements for what it is (I have seen better graphic games running much faster).

Smaller inventory
Use of mules/slaves/giant snails to carry most of your items
More realisytic carrying capacity

3 axis as well.

Oh and a minor detail, but having a left hand dominatant choice, in charater generation.

being able to save your quickslot settings so that everytime you die you don't have to reset it again.

Elimination of floaty names above player head, when the player covers his head with a helmet. Also elimination of the visible server info about the gamespy name of who has just loged in. Also not being able one player to see the gamespy name of an other by clicking on his portrait. Still the player name list should exist, but if a player wants to be in it to have to selected it as an option, so that the others can send him a tell. Also elimination of the info according to where is the player. Also be able to set someone to hostile by a simple choice on the first manu that appears by right-clicking on him.

Gameplay is everything!

I would love it if, instead of a Rural, City, Caves, etc. tileset there was a menu like for the items or placeables or creatures where you could choose what feature to put in what terrain. And imagine the sheer joy of being able to change the color of the paint on a house without having to hack the tileset completely...

Rather than those stupid limitations, there should be Aboveground and Belowground. That's it.

How nice it would be to not have to download a 30mb file every time you wanted to play on a world that managed to put a City house on a Desert terrain space...

If you could mix terrain in an area. Snow and desert, forest and rural...

If you could place and rotate houses like other placeables...

If the standard NWN "hills" didn't look like a bunch of giant lego blocks stacked one on top of another. Yeah, I know you can get a hakpak to make the hills normal-looking, but jeezus how hard would that have been to include in the first place...

If you could paint roads instead of laying them as tiles. NWN is more like the Bizarro World than anything else...

And of course, everyone wants the Z-axis... The engine does have a Z-axis, from what I understand. Placeables make use of it, but the walkpaths for mobiles do not...

It's annoying that there seems to be so much potential in the engine, but the game designers made so little use of it. And now the community is stuck using workarounds.

It'd be nice to have more control over when and how the floaty-name identifier is obvious to others.

Be great to make more features of the NWN ruleset, like poison DCs, familiars, core spell functions, etc.. easier to customize.

A multiplayer-oriented edition of NWN, in which aura and similar spells worked equally well in scripting-heavy worlds as in single player would get me to reach for my wallet.

Other than anticybr's comments and the Z-Axis stuff... I just have one other want:

More Prestige Classes... and Psionics, but we all know that's virtually impossible to code and would only work with heavy DM intervention at all times, but oh well.

In terms of the PrCs, primarily the odd fighter/meleer PrCs that really expand and allow customization of melee classes, as well as obviously letting them specialize.

Things like the Duelist, Berserker, Deep Woods Sniper (bastard engine cuts range, so this is pointless), the Lasher, and a couple other PrCs from the Masters of the Wild and Holy Warriors books.

Also, an update on the Assassin to the 3.5 rules on them, since the Assassin is actually one of the few things that was actually improved and not-sucky in 3.5e with the addition of Hide in Plain Sight at level 7... it makes sense, and as Assassins are in NWN, they're really shitty and useless, so you're better off just going straight rogue.

There's other stuff, but those are the biggies for me.
