I am as thick as a tree trunk when i comes down to IT things....

How do you use macros?


As i did not get taught how to use macros at school 8 years ago. Our IT lessons was in typing up letters, it was soemthing like this in lesson........

"Now go and click Bold"

"Now highlight text and click Times New Roman"

Poooooooo it was soooo Poooooooooo


(Man i wish i had the IT lessons they have now for kids )

So any help in the Programing language.... I know some of you are Programmers by trade......so please help

I can't say that I understand your post but since you use the therm the language and macro I assume that your asking about the defenition of a macro in Lisp.

Practical Lisp systems provide a mechanism that allows a user to add new derived expressions and specify their implementation as syntactic transformations without modifying the evaluator. Such a user-defined transformation is called a macro.

I did not understand the original post either, but I have a question about macros. The question is: how do I do them?

I need very basic macro's for some texts my characters say, mainly for "Chaaarge!", "Die, foul creature!", "*chants a battle hymn*, "Gorethar's sword of justice!" (that's for Estelaurin) and for "Hmmph." (that's for Val'hardir )

Anyone can explain me how to do this? Oh yes, I hope I understand what a macro is... anyhow, just tell me how to do this. Thanks.

Just right-click one of your quick buttons at the bottom of the screen, select "custom text macro" (not sure about exact phrasing), then just type in the name of the macro (text you're going to see in the slot) and the text you want to speak. Unclear enough? Then you just click the button when you want to speak the phrase.

Yeah, the word "macro" is a little dramatic for what it does Basiclly all it means is you click on one of your quick-slots and it squirts that text into the chat window as if you had typed it.

At school when i was a kid, we did not learn how to use basic macros...

Not like today kids of 14 are being taught.. that did not happen when i was a lad...

Right click on the quickslot you want to use and select the Macro option (the top one I think).

Enter the Name of the Macro. This will be the description you see in the quickslot. Keep this short.

Then enter the text you want to say, prefixed by /tk . This ensures that you only Talk the text. The default is to Shout. I am fairly sure this is disabled on Avlis, but it is better to be sure.

For example, you want to say Hello, friend in Elven language.

So you would enter Hello in the Description and /tk Pelail Hoovaire in the Text. Now you will see Hello in the Quickslot and when you click on the quickslot, your character says Pelail Hoovaire.

Some of my characters have nearly all of their quickslots filled up with these.
