Not sure if this is the correct location to post this, but I was wondering why I cannot get a macro set to work with windows 10... Previously with windows 7, I was able to make a macro with Shift/F1 using my keyboard marco button, but for some reason, NWN does not recognize the command. I have tested it out with different programs and it works in those. Is there any editing I need to do in the ini's that would recognize the macro?

More information would be needed probably. Which keyboard are you using and how does it apply macros (its own software or something external)?

I'd suggest searching Google or your favorite search engine using that information, unless someone here has overcome the same problem.

Its a microsoft sidewinder x4 keyboard, I have the updated mouse and keyboard center installed. you can set it as a basic setting or use it for specific applications (which I have tried both setups) and still doesn't work. I can and have tested it with different programs with different macros just to see if the thing actually works and it does, just not in this game. I had it set this way with windows 7 and never had a problem, so I didn't know if there was some windows 10 trick or something I had to edit in NWN itself to recognize the macro buttons.

Shift+F1 already has a function assigned in NWN - shift switches to an alternate quickbar and F1 to teh first slot in that quickbar. dont know if that matters or not

Yeah, I understand that. I was trying to set up the entire process using a macro button on the side of my keyboard. So instead of me having to press SHIFT + F1, all I would have to do is create a custom macro that peforms and saves that function to a macro button (on this keyboard its a S1 button...Logitech has "G" buttons for example). Push the S1 button, it performs the SHIFT + F1 function.... and done! It worked with windows 7 and NWN, but does not work with a fresh install of windows 10 and NWN.

This is not definitive, but a lot of games require that you run them in Admin mode to accept that sort of input.

What about CTRL+ F1? That macro failing too? Shift could present Sticky Key annoyances if you're on a fresh install.

Do basic macros work? like just type a few letters into the chat bar with a macro and narrow down what part(s) are working and what aren't?
