My NWN will not load past the NWloader now that I have updated to 1.69. Would one of you lovely geniuses tell me what is the matter.

Yep ... just checked. Mine hangs too and won't go on-line.

Mine is fine. It could be that the patch wasn't applied correctly. My guess is that the fix will be to download the critical rebuild patch from bioware.

Nope .. wasn't that.

But worked out what it is. It seems that the update has changed something to interfere with my firewall setting. Just got to work out what.

The exe has obviously changed and most decent to good firewalls are able to detect this. For security reasons so are such files usually automatically blocked but most firewalls then asks if you wish to re-grant the permission to access the Internet.
If this isn't the case with your firewall then I'd check the block/permit list.

Checked the block/permit list and it was permitted. It hadn't asked me to re-allow.
No matter. I blocked it and re-permitted it manually. Sorted.

You may be getting a pop-up box from your AV or Firewall asking if you will allow NWN.exe (or NWMAIN.EXE) to access the Internet. Of course, this often pops up underneath an existing window.

Try setting NWN to Window Mode and then see if there is a pop-up.

I think Norton does that (and possibly Macafee) - always underneath the program you are using.

Pretty sure ZoneAlarm used to do the same.

not loading either. critical rebuild, reapplied the firewall settings, etc. It won't even boot up. I might have to do a reinstall

Hmmm...I downloaded the critical build and the haks and applied them. Now when I start NWN up and choose 'Multiplayer', NWN just goes away. No error, no nothing. Everything worked fine on the other computer. I'll blame it on Vista.

Bah! It was Vista. I actually have to right-click the nwnmain.exe file and 'run as administrator'.

I had to create shortcuts to run both the DM and Player clients since updateing to 1.69 with vista.

For the Player Client: For the DM Client: No right clicks, and run as admin needed with these. Well at least for me.
