When you look at the Avlis map, there is some kind of archipelago North-West of the Kurathene main territory, West of the port of Lomar. What are those? Are they inhabited? Claimed by any politcal force?

I'd be grateful for information.

As they're colored purple on the political map, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess they actually are part of Kurathene in some manner.

I don't think they're heavily populated and I've never actually gotten an account on what they're supposed to be, though.

The island in the "bay" of Kurathene(named Amelede Bay for now) is the Island of Sargone, it's a viscounty in the prefecture of Trenium which was originally an Imperial Navy base and a penal colony.

Actually I think I have drawings of Avlis dating back 10+ years and they have those islands on them. They have never been played in pnp, but they basically are a tossup between Tyedu and elements of the Kurathene, much in the same way that the Brittish and Spanish used to try to start outposts on islands back in the day. The islands were more or less autonomous because they were difficult to reach, but they owed cursory allegiance to their countries.

The islands on the lower right below Drotid are very much real. They also have not been played but ceardan and I have had conversations about them being a sahuagin/troglodyte stronghold marginally controlled by Drotid but not really. The nixie city of Qwandovia is also down in that area under the ocean, and that has been played in pnp games. Not to be confused with nixie city of Qwanderal on the eastern shore off the coast of the Kurathene.

On the aside the difficulty in reaching them...

Does this mean most of the weather on the western ocean is going to be consisting of westerlies that make it difficult to beat up to these islands?

Not sure I know enough about meteorology to make a case for that, but I guess it's possible.

I cooked up an idea for those islands to stick into the history. Nob and I will iron it out and send it your way for approval with the next batch of stuff, Orl.
