Two questions: one about magic and one about crafting...

Hi,

I'm new to Avlis and I was considering what kind of character I want to play. I read through the definitive guide, but I'm still not entirely clear about the general attitudes to magic. Specifically, I was thinking of playing a ghost elf sorceror, and I wanted to know if magical ability was well received in elven society or if it is discouraged.

Edit: hehe I forgot to ask... if as an elf I need to speak in elven.

My second question is about crafting (yeah i know, this one is more about game mechanics). How does crafting work on Avlis? Do you use the Ambrosia Trade Skills System? What about the Craft skills introduced with HotU, are those functional or not supported? What trade skills are available in Avlis?

I dont think magic is discouraged for any race, but the orcs, due to a rather unfortunate accident in the past(please read world history for more info).
And elves dont have to speak in elven, but some of the players like to use some words of the elven vocabulary, which you can find also in the world's information.

The crafting system of avlis is unique as it was developed (and still expanding) by the Avlis Team. The current skills available is weaponsmithing, armorcrafting, tailoring, alchemy, herbalism and soon jewelry and mining.

Just to be perfectly clear, the Bioware skills, like Craft Trap, Craft Armor, etc... are not usable on Avlis. Don't take them. It would be pointless. The crafting system on Avlis does not use them.

Ah .... well there's a bit of news that came a bit late. I'll just count the point I put into craft weapon as something to indicate the time invested in this trade - and know not to put anymore points in there :)
