Giving your PC a noble lineage or special status

Are there any guidlines for creating a character whose background gives him a special status, or tie him to a country's ruling body?
Spell Singer wrote: Brother Grano Goodman is a member of House Goodman. House Goodman is a M'Checkian Noble house. The Union of M'Check is ruled by the council of Nobles of which this house is a member.

The Sword of Toran is an adjunct to the Mikona Guard which derives its responsibility from the Common council. The Common House is under the Noble House (I trust no one is confusing a noble house with the Noble House) in the government. So if a Noble House, and in this case Sir Grano Goodman is speaking for a Noble House, wishes to inquire into the actions of an agency of the government they are allowed to. It is their right, duty and privilige.
Under M'Chek law, Grano has more rights/privileges than other PC citizens. Grano's player is a Team member, so I can see him being trusted with playing this sort of character. But I didn't find any guidelines for players wanting to create similar characters. It could get confusing if we had a sudden rash of M'Chek noble houses appearing in game.

Argh to be honest I never meant that. I play Grano as being from a powerless family. The hold a title because they are a family of knights. They serve the Grumbald house but hold no seats and do no voting because they are landless, it's title only. So no Grano has no more rights then anyone else but knows how things work. That entire thread is getting out of hand. My entire point was taken out of context. When I made the post what I wanted was the Sword leadership to send me a msg saying that hey We'll look into it, rather it got taken to a different place. And no the entire point was Grano's IC response to things he has seen the Sword do and had nothing to do with the team. Had it I would have posted it using my team account.

And no new noble houses...in fact I'm tempted to say forget the whole thing, ask the thread to be locked and deleted and forget it.

Gotcha-- I asked cause I did a similar thing for one of my characters, figuring that as long as he was currently powerless, a little noble lineage was just pure flavor.

I've no complaints about the other thread. A good OoG vs the World forum fight makes things lively!

As always... If you want your character to do or be something that isn't inherently part of NWN... Ask the staff.

Coming from, or being part of a minor noble family, one that doesn't give the PC any real power or authorty is more or less fine. But that PC will speak with no more authorty, power or have more rights then any other PC, no matter where they are.

It is however possible though various IC actions to gain such a status...

Yeah, Timo is a noble (not in Mikona) and this had to be approved by the big guy back when I first started.

And especially these line.
In addition to Player Character races, the PC's background could have the possibility of falling into this cheesing category. Though it is perfectly IC to have one of the following traits in your background, you MUST have an approval of a (vet or senior) DM before you can RP this out.

.....

We encourage players to come up with great backgrounds for their PC's, but like in PnP, if your character has a special background, you must clear it with the DM. We are just making sure the players know that.
