Altered Avlis spells

This is perhaps on purpose, but a very frustrated old post from Alexandru Stanicu (
viewtopic.php?t=20394&highlight=ultravision) gave me an idea:
Could we have a centralised/sticky list of modifications that have been made to spells? I recall when true seeing/Isaacs greater broken POS were changed, you told us to find out how for ourselves - but it causes SO much confusion, and more than a few unnecessary (but very udnerstandable imo) bug reports.
I can think of at least Isaacs X, Firebrand, True Seeing, Knock.
A lot of whining and confusion simply comes from not knowing, and I think it's bad for our blood pressure

(Alex's and mine, at the very least)
In the spirit of being constructive - if such a thing WOULD be ok (and only if we hear such from the team in this thread) i'll take the time to collate all such information and get people to PM me what I don't know/can't find - won't be THAT hard, and removes the issue of eating valuable team member time
PS: Alex, if that was frustration at the players/whining/etc - we don't mean to drive you nuts, honest...

. Ignore me if it was technical issues. They mean to. They're EEEEVIL.

Heh. That's a far bigger list than you might realize. I've personally altered about 60 or so spells in Avlis, and I know that's not all of them. E.g. raise dead and resurrect had changes so they won't be interrupted if the target moves while being raised; quite a large number of spells had visual effects removed; true seeing has been substantially altered; death spells slay the target directly instead of knocking unconscious, etc.
Avlis has a LOT of minor changes to spells and other mechanics,
almost all of which come directly from player feedback (and a lot of discussion among the Team). We list most of these changes in Development Updates.
Now, I don't see anything at all wrong with YOU collecting this information, if you like. But I'm not going to do it. I have enough to do.

Well. I think spells should be collated, not just buried in the dev thead Effort talks, so...
Considering most of it is in the forums, i'll move on as if it's fine until told otherwise then. (if anyone has a problem tell me, for god's sake - it'll be a waste of hours if it's unpublishable

)
*gets to work* I'll do something preliminary with what I can pull out of the forums, and then ask people to PM me stuff that i've missed.
EDIT: Typo

Go browse the
Closed Bug Reports forum or the
Elysia/Le'Or Broken Transitions thread for a quick insight into how I spend my evenings when I'm not building quests and areas. And yeah, I knew you were kidding.
Ironically, I
am a lazy ass, just not when I do work for Avlis.

Whenever I click the "view new posts" and see most of the first page filled with "Closed Bug Reports" posts I think "Aloro is RL bored again."

The spells im most interested in finding out how they were changed are:
-Firebrand
-Isaac's Greater/Lesser missile swarm
I know that the number of missiles per target is a function of your level somehow, but i dont know by how much. It started by being set at a fixed number of 4 per target i think, but then was made to be a function of level and now my lvl 15 mage can only hit with 3 missiles per target (which is weak as hell for a lvl 6 spell

)

I am honestly almost NEVER bored. But I do feel a lot of responsibility to help keep things in Avlis working as intended, so I spend a lot of my time doing this stuff. Believe me, though, it's not because I'm bored. I have a ton of other things that interest me, and that I can spend my time doing...
Y'know, I don't recall the last time I was bored. Isn't that interesting? Guess I have too many hobbies and interests...

On hold for a little while, as I don't understand the techical issues around HotU at all but expect these things to change

While we are on the topic of spells and player feedback. Folks are still raising me from the dead against my wishes, and there is nothing I can do to stop it. It may be too hard or very easy, would not know. What I would like to see is one of them popup boxes asking you if you accept being raised.
Some folks like playing in the afterlife for a while. Maybe I like slaughtering manes ok? Some mean players raise you from the dead just to be mean to you some more after killing your character. Then they threaten you again and kill you again if you say anything.
At the heart of this is that the ressurection spells specificaly state that only willing souls can be raised.
P.S. This whole issue would be completely avoided if you, the players, would simply take the 30 seconds to send dead folks a tell asking if they are willing to be raised.

Adding an option to refuse raise dead spells is on the list of things we're looking into.

I'm pretty sure that's on the short list of things defined as "griefing". How bastardly of them. Point them out to Vence next time for him to rearrange their internal anatomy, eh?
