What do our characters know about Avlis?

I was wondering about a couple of things about Avlis and how it appears from the characters' perspectives.
Does it have one moon? Does it look like Earth's?
One sun?
What's the set-up of the planes - the standard cosmology of the great wheel plus inner planes? And how much would our characters be expected to know? For example, would a bard or wizard be pretty knowledgable, or is it something that is talked about as pure theory by everyone except the most powerful characters who can actually walk the planes?
Also, regarding the history of the gods, Fairy War, the Great War, etc., again, what should we allow our characters to know, especially "educated" characters such as wizards and bards?
Many thanks!
